The largest site with dinosaur footprints in the world.
This area contains an impressive group of different species dinosaur footprints located in the almost vertical calcareous wall of Cal Orck’o. Investigations suggest that they are 65 million years old, belonging to the Cretaceous period.
There are examples of both biped and quadruped prints, indicating that the different species co-inhabited the area, including the mighty Rex Tyrannosaurus.
From the Cretaceous Park it is possible to admire these prints, as well as real size models made by experts. The park shows not only the features of the dinosaurs, but also the typical flora of the time.

Morning departure to Tarabuco (60 Km. /1 hours, 15 min) and attendance to the local Sunday market. Typical Sunday lunch. Afternoon return to Sucre.
Towards the northwest of Sucre is the Frailes mountain range. This area is remarkable for the intense colors of the mountains due to their mineral wealth.
The colors and the mountains create an amazing landscape where one can do hikes that have different levels of difficulty. Combine a visit to one of the indigenous villages of Potolo or Maragua, with one of the following hikes.
The area has interesting pictographs that correspond to cultures that existed from 2.500 to 1.500 years ago.
After driving 1 hour, a walk of 4 to 6 hours starts in a fascinating erosion sculpted mountain landscape that presents curious and surprising landforms. The walk covers an area of about 8 Km., ending in the valley of Chaunaca, where we enjoy a picnic lunch.
After driving 1 hour from Sucre, we start descending on the Inca Trail, a road built for transporting obsidian stones. The walk on the trail covers a distance of approximately 6 Km. (3.7 mi.), descending from the summit of the mountains of Chataquila to the Valley of Chaunaca.
The great landscape of Los Frailes mountain range offers amazing views of the area and of the Maragua Crater. It is also a good chance to learn about the native flora of the region. Walking time 2 to 4 hours (easy). Picnic lunch at the end of the hike.
The hike starts after visiting the village of Maragua and enjoying a picnic lunch on route. It lasts 3 to 4 hours, following the footsteps of the first inhabitants of this area: Dinosaurs.

After a 1 ½ hour drive from Sucre and once we have visited the small valley of Chaunaca, we take the road to either Potolo or Maragua. Visit to the indigenous homes in the area, where, besides admiring the textile art they produce, one can shop directly from the weavers.

Visit to the Colonial Hacienda of Candelaria (storage rooms, chapel, agricultural museum etc.).
Typical lunch at the Hacienda.
Work with one of our local weavers and learn how to spin wool in a local drop spindle or, if preferred, short walk to the Inca Bridge.
Return to Sucre in the evening.

Dinner with a talk by the owners on the history of the Hacienda while enjoying the typical warm cinnamon and singani.

Hands on morning: participate in one of our everyday life activities to choose from:
· Weaving on a traditional loom with a local teacher.
· Hiking to a nearby Indigenous community.
Enjoy a typical lunch and after some free time to enjoy the pure countryside air, return to Sucre.

Day 2
A day of Mink’a (work with everyone for everyone) and cultural exchange
After breakfast, walk or drive to the place where locals are working on a project that will help their entire community. Upon arrival, introduction to the local workers and full day community work with the local people share lunch at the place of work with the community.
After a day of work, the return to Hacienda Candelaria.
Dinner and talk on the history of Candelaria while enjoying the typical hot cinnamon with singani.
Note: This day involves hard work, so it is suggested that people have clothes that can get dirty or damaged and gloves.
Day 3
Breakfast and transfer to Tarabuco. On Sunday, attendance to the local indigenous market of Tarabuco, one of the purest and most colorful in the world.
Indigenous people, dressed on their traditional garments attend this town every Sunday to buy, sell and still barter their local products and handicrafts.
Lunch and afternoon return to Sucre.

Dramatic scenery of changing altitudes.
The valley of Icla, located 15 Km. (30 min.) from Candelaria, goes down from the Puna to the valley town of Icla, (about 1.000 m.a.s.l. /3.281 ft.).
The Icla Canyon offers great views followed by a 1-hour hike in this amazing geological failure.
Parrots and other birds can be seen nesting in certain seasons.

Bolivian textiles have always been a display of the ethnical and cultural wealth of the diverse inhabitants of its territory.
With time, textiles have evolved and changed.
The collection of textiles displayed shows one of the greatest varieties of textiles gathered together in one collection. The lecture is given by an expert in textiles, owner of the collection. To be able to see, touch and hear about these pieces, allows better understanding of Bolivia and the many different cultural groups living in this territory.
The display that has about 300 large pieces from the Andean region lasts 2 hours.
The beauty of Bolivian textiles, combined with the charm of the locals and the rhythm of the Andean music are appreciated in this show that lasts 1 to 1 ½ hours . Fashionable clothing, made with local textiles as well as a collection of ponchos are displayed.
The scenario for this show is a private home. This is a great opportunity to see the inheritance of colonial times in the architecture of the houses, their decoration and also to taste the local cuisine (for option with dinner).
