Day 1 La Paz Rurrenabaque Chalalan
Departure transfer from the hotel in La Paz. Flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque. Arrival transfer from the airport in Rurrenabaque and transfer to Hotel Los Tucanes or similar.
Afternoon at leisure to explore the town or to relax by the pool. Dinner at a local restaurant, tasting the local cuisine.
Day 2 Chalalan Eco lodge – Madidi National Park
Breakfast and transfer to the point of the Beni River where we board motorboats and get lifejackets. Start navigating towards Chalalan Ecolodge, the ride takes about 5 hours on the Beni and the Tuichi Rivers. The journey is a great opportunity to watch and enjoy beautiful landscapes like the Bala Gorge and the beautiful landscapes of the tropical jungle.
On route we might see some birds, reptiles and mammals. Box lunch along the way.
Arrival to the port of Chalalan and hike for 25 minutes, on the Jaguar trail, to the Chalalan Ecolodge on the shore of the lagoon of the same name.
Welcome and accommodations in the cabins. Welcome lunch.
Afternoon hike on one of the theme paths, where our local guide will show how to interpret the sounds of the forest and the different uses of its resources.
Return by canoe to observe some species of monkeys and birds.
After dinner, night walk to observe insect, amphibians, spiders, reptiles and night birds.
Day 3 Chalalan Eco lodge – Madidi National Park
Breakfast at the Eco lodge. Guided walk for 3 to 4 hours on the Tapacare path or a similar one. During the walk we continue learning on how to interpret the sounds of the forest and the ecological processes. This is a great opportunity to, with a bit of luck; see some species of birds, mammals that live on trees and on the ground. Lunch at the Ecolodge.
In the afternoon, after a rest, visit to the lookout , from where we get an incredible view of all of the area of Lake Chalalan and the surroundings that cover an amazing primary tropical jungle of Madidi National Park.
Talk on the history of the community the Chalalan project and the creation of Madidi National Park.
Buffet dinner with traditional food of the area.
Ride on canoe to observe the shine of the caiman’s eyes and other animals.
Traditional Quechua Tacana night. Our local guides, according to their traditions and indigenous rituals of the Uchupiamonas, (use of coca leaves) will offer a small farewell gathering with music and dances and a local traditional drink.
Day 4 Chalalan Eco lodge Rurrenabaque
Breakfast at the Eco lodge and early in the morning, hike on one of the theme paths to observe the wild fauna. Lunch at 11:00 a.m. and walk to the shore of the Tuichi river to ride the boats back to Rurrenabaque.
During the journey it is recommended to keep eyes open to see some local animals.
After a 3-hour ride, arrival to Rurrenabaque and transfer to the airport for the flight from Rurrenabaque to La Paz.

Day 4 Chalalan Eco lodge – Madidi National Park
Breakfast at the Ecolodge.
Long walk to the Eslabón River for a full day excursion. (About 6 hours). This time we go deep into the tropical rainforest and we have a chance to see animals such as the spider monkey, wild pigs and many species of birds, learning more on the interpretation of the forest and the ecological processes. Box lunch on the shore of the Eslabón River.
Optional: practice of sport fishing in the river. Return to the Eco lodge.
Optional Activity: Walk to Santa Rosa Lake and return by boat or vice versa. The way the walk goes depends on transportation available on the day of the tour.
The walk takes about 4 hours and a half on a pristine forest with high presence of mammals. We visit a salt deposit, a place that attracts the herbivores and frugivorous in the area.
Box lunch and time to rest on the shore of the Santa Rosa River, one of the most beautiful and wildest landscapes in the region. Canoe ride and sport fishing for piranhas in the lake. The shore of the lake is an ideal place to observe birds, mainly guacamayos (parrots) and monkeys. The boat ride takes about 25 minutes.
Arrival to Chalalan and swim on the lake (optional).
